Quillaja is a tree that is native to Chile (Quillaja Saponaria Molina), whose wood, bark, leaves and roots have a high content of triterpenicsaponins. Saponins are natural emulsifiers and multi-purpose foaming agents. This makes Quillaja a good alternative to synthetic surfactants.
